Some Lucky Things That Have Happened on Friday the 13th

Are you superstitious about tomorrow being Friday the 13th?  The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia.  I dare you to say three times in a row quickly. More than 60 million people are affected by a fear of Friday 13th worldwide. According to the British Medical Journal there is a significant increase in traffic-related accidents when the date is Friday 13th. I never really thought much about days that fell on the 13th until I had a baby born on that day.  So that is now a lucky number for me.  Did you know that every year has at least one Friday the 13th?  No year has had (or will have) more than three Friday the 13ths.  If you are concerned about bad things happening on that day, here are some lucky things associated with Friday the 13th:

  1. A couple from London won the lottery on Friday the 13th – click here for the story.
  2. Another person playing the lottery found Friday the 13th to be his lucky day – click here for more.
  3. The 13th was lucky for this slot machine player who won 1.7 million dollars – click here to find out more.
  4. I’m sure Ashley and Mary Kate Olson will agree that Friday the 13th was lucky for them as they were born on that day. Julia Louis-Dreyfuss and Steve Buscemi were born on that day as well. Interesting to note . . .The probability of being born on Friday the 13th is 1/214 — which means that over the long run, 1 in 214 people will be born on a Friday the 13th.
